Early life and career
Sandara Park was born in Busan, South Korea. Her family moved to the Philippines to start a new business. Park spent the remainder of her youth growing up in the Philippines . Park was involved in a talent show in the Philippines , known as Star Circle Quest in ABS-CBN Network. In the final rounds of text voting, she earned the highest number of votes from the viewing audience.
After appearing in television spots and commercials in the Philippines, Park released a song collection.
Dara back in Korea
Park returned to South Korea on August 1, 2007 with her mother and siblings to begin a new life. The next day, August 2, 2007, YG Entertainment reported that they had signed a contract with Park. She was featured in The Return of Ijimae, and in Gummy's music video for "I'm Sorry." She has performed with Korean artists and bands such as Big Bang, Gummy, Se7en, Jinusean, Lexy, and 1TYM. Her younger brother, Sang Hyun, also debuted in early October 2009 as a rapper and dancer of a Korean boy band, MBLAQ in J.Tune Entertainment.
[edit] 2009–present: Debut with 2NE1 and solo career
YG Entertainment announced that the group would consist of four members and debut sometime in May 2009. The company stated that the group had trained for four years, and that their debut album would contain songs produced by 1TYM leader Teddy Park. The group's name was initially announced as "21"; however, due to the discovery of a singer with the same name, the group was renamed "2NE1".
Park is the first member of 2NE1 to release a solo single, entitled "Kiss". On the single's music video, she was joined by Korean actor Lee Min Ho.
