Kamalinee Mukherjee Biography
Kamalinee Mukherjee is popular Indian actress who appears in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada language films. She made her debut in a supporting role in Hindi film ‘Phir Milenge’ and then plunged into Telugu film industry. Her first film in a leading role was the Telugu film ‘Anand’ that received several awards including seven Nandi Awards.

Kamalinee Mukherjee was born on 4 March, 1980 to a businessman father and a jewelry designer mother. She was born and brought up in Kolkata where she developed a passion for theatre and participated in many amateur and professional plays. Kamalinee Mukherjee is very fond of reading spiritual literature, painting and poetry. She wrote three poems for poetry.com, titled Thoughts, Confusion and Solitude. One of these poems was chosen for the International Poetry Contest. Kamalinee participated in this contest along with 150 other contestants from all over the world. The seminar was held in Washington DC and was presided over by Dalai Lama.
Kamalinee is a graduate in English literature from Loreto College, Kolkata and a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She came to Mumbai wherein she joined a course in theatre arts and featured in many plays and advertisements. Kamalinee has modeled for many TV commercials and print advertisements for brands like Neelkamal Furniture, Parachute Hair Oil, Fair & Lovely and Ayush.
Kamalinee Mukherjee made her cinematic debut in the year 2004 alongside Salman khan, Shilpa Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan and Mita Vashisht in actor turned director Revathi’s ‘Phir Milenge’. Based on the sensitive subject of AIDS, ‘Phir Milenge’ earned positive reviews and Kamalinee was appreciated for her riveting performance.
In the same year Kamalinee Mukherjee played the female lead opposite Raja in Sekhar Kammula‘s Telugu film ‘Anand’. The film became a box office success and won huge critical acclaim. ‘Anand’ won seven Nandi awards in categories like Best Film, Best Director, Best Producer, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Child Artiste and Best Female Dubbing Artist. Kamalinee won the Nandi Best Actress Award for her very first Telugu film.
Kamalinee was next seen in successful Telugu films like Raghava Lawrence’s ‘Style’ alongside Prabhu Deva, Raghava Lawrence, Charmme Kaur and Raja, Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Godavari’ opposite Sumanth, K. Vijaya Bhaskar’s ‘Classmates’ opposite Sumanth and Sekhar Kammula’s multistarrer ‘Happy Days’. Kamalinee Mukherjee made her Tamil debut in Gautham Menon’s superhit ‘Vettaiyaadu Velaiyaadu’ alongside Kamal Hassan and Jyothika.
Kamalinee Mukherjee was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress Award the Telugu film ‘Gamyam’ directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi. ‘Gamyam’ was inspired from ‘Easy Rider’ and ‘The Motorcycle Diaries’and starred Allari Naresh, Sharwanand and Kamalinee Mukherjee in lead roles. ‘Gamyam’ won three Filmfare awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Lyrics. The film also won four Nandi awards. Kamalinee appeared in Kannada film ‘Savari’, which is the remake of her award winning Telugu film ‘Gamyam’.
She is currently working in a Malayalam film ‘Kutty Shranku’ opposite Mammootty directed by Shaji N. Karun. The film has been screened in the year 2009 at various film festivals including Montreal World Film Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, Mumbai International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India and Dubai International Film Festival.
