Krutika Desai

 Krutika Desai Biography

Krutika Desai is one of those sensuous glam dolls who has made her entry into the television circuit during the period of 1980s which is known as the 'booming era' of the small screen. She is a Cancerian-Gemini casp and is extremely emotional about her family. She was one of those early birds who jumped into the television bandwagon and worked on several chartbusters of the small screen including 'Hungama', 'Kismet', 'Zameen Aasman', 'Superhit Muqabla', 'Chandrakanta', 'Mansi' and 'A Mouthful of Sky'. She has also acted in two feature films, one in Hindi and the other one in Bengali. She had also traveled as far as Israel in the year 2003 for an English crossover film.

Krutika Desai was very much appreciated in the serial named 'Lipstick' which was based on a daringly different subject. She grabbed the offer instantly when the role was offered to her, as it is a never-before show on Indian Television. The plot was conceived with the intent of shocking the middle class sensibilities and presenting an unadulterated view of the upper class. She claims that she was fortunate enough to be a part of the show, which was based on a bold theme and was also a departure from the run-of-the-mill fare and examined various issues like homosexuality and extramarital relationships.

She asserts that she bagged the role of Rupali after going through some auditions as the producr of the show Shrishti Arya was very particular about casting the characters and had already shot some scenes with two different actors. Her character was indeed very different in the sense that she comes from a traditional middle class family and had to pay a huge price for her success. Ultimately she did not mind paying the price as the success was worth it. She claims that it was the character of a vain and hysterical woman who is unwilling to accept her middle age and maturity gracefully.

Krutika Desai In another popular Balaji soap 'Kkusum' she plays the character of Devanshi who has a certain amount of mystery and intrigue around her. Sometimes she appears to be too good and at other times she seems to be very convincing and manipulating. She gives all the credit of her looks, portrayal and entry to the creative team of the Balaji Productions. In another popular Sony Television soap 'Yeh Meri Life Hai' she plays the mother of Ronit Gujral who hails from the highest rank of the social order and cannot accept a girl from a middle class family as her daughter-in-law. She always seems to be on her toes in scheming plots to underestimate her daughter-in-laws.

Krutika Desai claims that she is very passionate about her home and her privacy. Her life does not revolve around acting and she feels that there are different dimensions to her persona. There is also a broader spectrum to her life and she also includes herself in hobbies like reading, traveling and cooking. She sees herself as much as a homemaker and mother as an actress. Whole talking about her choice of roles she claims that she is very selective and loves adorning western clothes on screen. She is too much in love with traveling and gets glimpses into the diverse cultures of the places to visits. She is basically a mountain person and enjoys taking long walks in the dense woods.

Besides these popular soaps she also appeared in several other soaps, which were broadcaster on the national channels like 'Buniyaad', 'Chandrakanta', 'Kismet', 'Zameen Aasman', 'Superhit Muqabla' and many others. She also claims that the working condition of today has deteriorated to an extreme extent and one actually feels the stress piling on him. While doing television she also practiced theater and did some Gujrati plays which won rave reviews. She has also acted in two films - one a mainstream commercial film called 'Insaaf' and the other one a Bengali flick titled 'Dastak'. She is also on the lookout for good opportunities, which will see her in some more meaningful roles. She promises to live upto the expectations of her audiences while the latter also prays for her success.
