Choi Ji Woo Biography
Choi Ji Woo was born on 11th June 1975 at Paju, South Korea and was born to Choi Woon-Yong and Yun Gil-Ja. Her birth name was Choi Mi-Hyang and she has an elder brother. She graduated from Pusan Sooyoung Elementary, Sooyoung Girl's Jr High, Dukmoon Girl's High School and majored in aerobics at Pusan Women's Professional College's Dance Department.
She first came to the lime light when she won a talent audition organized by MBC in 1994. She made her debut in the 1995 drama 'Love and War' changing her name to Choi Ji Woo which became her stage name. She appeared in the highest rated drama in the Korean history 'First Love' paired with Bae Yong -Joon.
She gained popularity during the year 2001 with her role of an orphaned girl who deals with leukemia in Beautiful Days. During this year she was enrolled in Hanyang University's Department of film and theater studies. She completed her first year but had to withdraw from college due her hectic work commitments.
During 2002 Choi Ji Woo starred with Bae Yong Joon in the popular Korean drama series Winter Sonata produced by KBS. This drama was credited as one of the initiators of the Korean wave in Japan. Both Choi Ji Woo and Bae Yong Joon are affectionately known in Japan as Yon Sama and Ji Woo Him respectively. Her Japanese fans sometimes refer to her as Princess Ji Woo.
She starred in a drama called 'Stairway to Heaven' in 2003 and continued her winning streak. Currently she is working in the MBC weekend drama 'Air City' along with her co star Lee Jung Jae and Lee Jin Wook. Here she plays the role of Han Do Kyung the Chief Operating Officer of an airline company. The role requires her to be multi lingual. The main location of this drama is the Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
