Parveen Babi was an Indian actress known for her terrifically glamorous looks and an alluring on screen presence. Born and brought up in Gujarat, Parveen Babi completed her schooling from Aurangabad and later joined the St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Parveen Babi’s father Vali Mohammed Babi served as an administrative officer with the Nawab of Junagadh. Born on April 4, 1949, Parveen Babi passed away on 20th January 2005 due to complications owing to her diabetic condition.

Parveen Babi shared romantic relationships with co stars Danny Denzongpa, Kabir Bedi and eventually the notable filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. It is also rumored that Parveen and Amitabh Bachchan were intimately involved. However she realized that Kabir became extremely involved with his career and did not care enough for her and eventually the couple split up leaving her in agony and despair.
She later found a comforting companion in friend and film director Mahesh Bhatt. However it is believed that Parveen Babi suffered a serious mental breakdown after watching Mahesh Bhatt’s film ‘Arth’ that was supposedly based on his extra marital affair with Parveen Babi and she vanished from the Bollywood scene.
It is also assumed that Parveen Babi was schizophrenic and thus turned to spirituality to comfort herself. She was an ardent follower of ‘Osho’ and later became closely associated with U.G.Krishnamurti, a contemporary spiritual guru of Indian origin. Parveen Babi returned to India in 1992, however she could not be recognized due to considerable weight gain. It was during this period that she became extremely paranoid and accused superstar Amitabh Bachchan and foreign dignitaries like Bill Clinton of conspiring to kill her. However the court dismissed her petition owing to lack of evidences.
Parveen Babi was found dead by the cops in her Mumbai penthouse on 22 January 2005. The secretary of her housing society informed the police after he realized that Parveen had not collected her newspapers and milk from her doorsteps for three subsequent days. It was confirmed later that Parveen died from gangrene of the foot that developed as a complication of her diabetic condition. It is hurtful that her body was not claimed for a long time and finally filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Ashok Pandit performed her last rites and she was buried next to her mother at Santa Cruz. It is shocking that the stunning beauty who once ruled the hearts of millions of fans lived a lonesome life and suffered an isolated death.
