In 2002, she won the State Award for Best Actress for her performance as a servant girl in the film Nandanam (2002).

She is one of the youngest of Kerala's leading actresses and dancers. She won the Kalathilakam Award in her native district of Alleppey, and has won many other statewide awards as well.

She was given the name "Navya" by her mother so as to be a lucky fortune to the Malayalam film industry.

Had plastic surgery performed on her lips (met with an accident and tore her lips while shooting for a Malayalam film).
